Student-Led Conference: Oct. 11th 3:00-6:00 Oct. 12th 8:00-11:00 Student-led conferences are quite common is schools across the country. Here is what to expect. The student presents their portfolio of work and leads the discussion. The teacher facilitates the discussion. The parent listens and learns about their child’s academic and interpersonal progress and needs. This approach gives you a first-hand look at how well your child understands the material, and it enables students to become agents of their own learning. With the proper instruction and support, students are well-equipped to understand themselves as learners, identify their strengths and areas for improvement, express their preferences and needs, and set their own goals for success. Benefits of Student-led conference:. Through the process of preparing for and leading a conference, students learn to: Reflect on themselves as learners. Articulate their needs. Make plans to improve. Get help from others. Own the goals they set for themselves.
